At Oakmont church of Christ, our desire is to imitate the pattern of worship we read about in the New Testament (2 Timothy 1:13; Hebrews 8:5). Here is what to expect during our worship service.

We follow the example of the early church who “continued steadfastly in…prayers” (Acts 2:42). During worship we pray to God according to His will and trust that He hears us (1 John 5:14).

Christians are commanded to sing to God and to each other (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16). Through song, we praise God and edify one another.

God’s will is to save men and edify the church by the preaching of the gospel  (1  Corinthians 1:21; Ephesians 4:11-16). Today, we will hear a message from God’s word.

The Lord Jesus instituted a memorial of His death, with unleavened bread representing His body, and the fruit of the vine representing His blood (1 Corinthians 11:23-26). We follow the example of the first century church and fulfill this command each first day of the week (Acts 20:7).

The church of the New Testament was instructed to “lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper” (1 Corinthians 16:2) for the Lord’s work. This responsibility is for the members of the church on the first day of the week, but not expected from our visitors.

Our aim is to glorify God and edify each other (Ephesians 3:21; 4:11-13). If you would like to learn more about worship or other spiritual matters, we would love to study with you.
